Being in the children garment industry puts us under the light for many activities that are not always related to selling clothes.
We are frequently approached for children book launches, theatre plays, fund raisers; schools auctions … and quite frequently we are approached for donations, charities, to help people in need.
Well, to manage the multiple requests we try and do our share as frequently as possible, within the different approaches that race up the pace of our team’s heart.
We take solidarity seriously and have done a number of different things to support activities in this field, specially activities to help children help other children.
One of the most endearing to us … takes place in Portugal – it has been going on for 7 years now and it is called “Partilhar Carinho” (it means – sharing tenderness) and sure enough, IT´S A CLOTHES RAID! Petit Patapon opens all the boutiques in the country (35 this year) to collect garments that no longer fit our client’s children and we donate them to multiple entities that work with families in need, orphanages, public hospitals, volunteer support groups for underprivileged mothers, the Red Cross, etc.
For a whole month – we really put our team, suppliers, friends and clients to work. We collaborate with the company and store teams and our own suppliers and we make as much noise as we can. Posters are printed, advertising is made, flyers are handed out, national celebrities become Godmothers and so far 70.000 garments have been gathered, selected, and donated to over 30 charities that are benefiting from this initiative.
Petit Patapon gives out an extra incentive to donors, while at this time of the year all Petit Patapon merchandise is full price on shop floors. On the day of the donation, clients can get 10% off on the same number of pieces donated.
Well… yet again, this October 23rd our clothes raid begins, until November 11th, with the participation of the entire chain of stores in Portugal! If you are in the neighbourhood, drop by and drop something off! Anything that your little ones no longer fit into!
PS) We collect ANY brand! Although we do tend to find our old vintage pieces the most adorable ones = )
